Asako was born in Tokyo, Japan, but moved often in her early years living in Germany, France, Japan and Brazil. At age 8, she took her first ballet lessons in Paris with a former member of the Paris Opera. Upon return to Japan, she studied at the Matsuyama Ballet in Tokyo, and was selected to join the junior company which gave her the opportunity to perform along professional dancers in classical ballets such as Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Coppelia and others. When the family moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Asako attended to two ballet schools, both of which used Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) curriculum. Within three years she completed all RAD exams. She finished her ballet studies at the Academie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace in Monaco, and was coached by Marika Besobrasova, the founder of the ballet school.

In 1989, Asako received her first contract the with Stadttheater Giessen in Germany, under William Anthony, where she was given several soloist roles. The following year, she moved to Ballett Oper Leipzig, under choreographer Uwe Scholtz. She danced many of his works including Die Schopfung (The Creation), Coppelia, Nutcracker, Beethoven 7th Symphony as well as with other choreographers such as Juri Vamos. After several years of dancing, she eventually came back to Tokyo, Japan to restart college and finish her degree. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Jochi/ Sophia University in Tokyo, majoring in Political Science and International Relations. She worked as a consultant for fashion items imported from France to Japan.

Although she had never considered teaching ballet when she was a dancer, starting 2008 several opportunities came up to teach in local ballet schools and private coaching in NYC, while she lived there with her family. Moving to Dallas in 2010 created more opportunities to teach, and she found her passion in the “art of teaching”. She is a certified teacher for the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum (ABTNTC). She taught at Dallas Ballet Center for 5 years, and before moving to Hathaway Academy of Ballet.She gives professional classes at Contemporary Ballet of Dallas. She continues to coach young students to young professional dancers privately. Some of her former students have become professional dancers in ballet companies in the US and Europe. Starting in the 2021-22 season, she has added the role of company instructor at the Dallas Black Dance Company.
