Monica (Micki) Saba


A Texas native, Micki is an active member of the dance community in the Dallas area and beyond. She received her BFA from Southern Methodist University and received her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance in the prestigious graduate program at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. She has been professionally teaching, choreographing, and performing dance for the past thirty years is primary modern faculty at the Hathaway Academy of Ballet where she directs The Contemporary Dance Ensemble “The Project” and is resident choreographer for Collin County Ballet Theatre, where she also serves on the board of directors.

Ms. Saba was a member of the Dallas based company, Dancers’ Unlimited Repertory Company, for over 10 years. While a member she performed in works by choreographers such as Moses Pendleton, Bill Evans, and John Perpener. In addition to being a performer, she choreographed for the company and was a co-creator of two programs for Young Audiences of North Texas.

As an independent artist she has performed for Lawrence Goldhuber in “Julius Ceasar Superstar” at Danspace Project-St. Mark’s Church, NYC, the Dallas Opera, Anita Martinez’s Ballet Folklorico, and in San Francisco, Puerto Rico, Florida, and Louisiana. She has set works for the Ballet Arkansas, Henderson State University, Garland Civic Theatre, Deep Ellum Opera Theatre, and the Dallas dance company Ewert & Co.

She has been a full time faculty at the University of Texas at Dallas since 1995 and an adjunct professor at Brookhaven Community College since 1982 where she was the Fine Arts nominee for Excellance in Teaching for adjunct faculty from Brookhaven College in 2007, awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award for Art and Performance from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2000, and received the Excellence in Teaching for adjunct faculty for Brookhaven College in 1990. Micki has also had a strong connection and commitment to arts in education as a resident artist for Young Audience for 15 years.
